Well...
Well, it's been a while since I posted, so I decided to update. Nothing really exciting is happening here, I don't have any funny/exciting stories to share. I don't have too much to complain about. So I'll just summarize some thoughts/feelings I've had recently:
1. I'm in MOPS (mothers of preschoolers). And I don't know what to think of it. I love getting to meet people in my community. I love to eat brunch. I don't know if I like the time it sucks up. I don't have any poopy diaper stories or other cutsie toddler stories to share. But it's a great way to meet almost every mom at Joshua's elementary school.
2. Joshua and Whitney are in school and loving it. Joshua is rockin' the academic world. He now knows all his addition facts (think mad minutes) and has learned them--oh in the past week and a half. His teachers think he's at a grade 1 possibly 2 reading level already. He can count by 5s 10s, and 2s. Which makes it challenging at school because the other kindergartners are learning sight words, counting backwards from 10, counting by tens, and learning that the letter "A" makes two sounds. His social skills are getting a lot better. He talks to a few "chosen" kids in his class, and talks even more to his teachers--really it's only his teachers he likes to socialize with, so we're still working on it. Whitney loves preschool--and is doing great. She's learning her sight words and writing her name and does a good job being friends with EVERYONE in her class--even those having a tough time. Her teacher really appreciates it, but really, Whitney's been a peer model in a special ed classroom and lives with Joshua, so she's learned well :)
3. Steve's loving his job. I'm glad. After all that financial sacrifice and endless student-dom, I'd be pretty upset if he didn't like it. But really, I'm really, really happy for him. I'm so glad he loves what he does.
4. I've been really busy. Now that the election is over, I don't check the Internet nearly as much as I did before, and have kind of lost my love of blogging in the absence of Internet use. I've signed up to run a marathon relay in May in the infamous Fargo marathon. I still love to cook. I miss my Lawrence friends a ton--I miss my Lawrence book club even more. And I've been thinking a lot about a lot of things.
So here's my random post. I'll put a cute Whitney picture up because I have to show her incredibly cute, obnoxiously big pink bow hairband I got at Gymboree for 19 cents. That's one thing of Lawrence I don't miss. I love having a mall that's not 40 min away.
