The Dissertation is Done!!!

Hooray for Steve! After 2 years of being a Master's student and 3 years of a PhD student--he's done! YAY! Yesterday he defended and passed! We are so proud of you Steve! This is quite the accomplishment, and since you won't toot your own horn, I'll do it for you!

(By the way, for all you English and Journalism degrees out there, I know my use of exclamation marks is excessive. But I think for occasions like this, I think it's appropriate).

A week in review

Our little family had a lot of fun this week. Over the weekend we got to watch our neighbour's dog Bentley. He's just a puppy and oh so cute. Let's just say there were a lot of tears in our house when he had to go back home. My favourite phrase from Whitney was "I love you Bentley, do you love me?"

We also got to go to the opening season practice of the KU football team. The kids got to ride ponies (which they took very seriously) and we got some free shirts. We're all about free at this house!

And last but not least, I think spring is finally here! I took a picture of the tree in the backyard blossoming. I don't know what kind of tree it is, but it's beautiful.

Rainy Day People

It was another rainy gloomy day, but today it was warm enough (and not pouring) to be outside for an hour. Here are my "rainy day people":

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

A few weeks ago, Joshua and Whitney's preschool gave out free tickets to the KU Jayhawks baseball game (I think they were begging for people to come because of the NCAA basketball playoffs). It was a fun family outing complete with free popcorn.

And of course, Whitney insisted on wearing her "flower hat."

Spring Cleaning

Last Saturday Steve and the kids washed our dirty Camry. They had so much fun and did a pretty good job!

Finally!!!

Finally, it's happened--a team I'm actually cheering for actually WON the championship game. I think the last time something like this happened is when the Toronto Blue Jays won the world series in 1993. It's about time! YAY KU!!! Way to go--to come back from behind and win it in overtime 75-68. Go Jayhawks!

Rock...Chalk....Jayhawk

Steve and I have had some great sporting moments the past few years. Our last year at the University of Illinois (2005), the Illini basketball team made it to the Championship Game...and lost. Then, in 2006, my beloved Edmonton Oilers made it to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals...and lost. This year, 2008 is our last year at KU, and the basketball team has made it--you guessed--to the Championship Game. Let's not lose this time!

Easter
